Job Purpose
The Commis Chef assists the kitchen team in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to the highest standards, ensuring consistency, hygiene, and efficiency in the resort’s food & beverage operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation (cutting, chopping, marinating, etc.) under supervision of senior chefs.
- Cook simple dishes and assist in plating according to menu standards.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations.
- Follow hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Assist in stock control by reporting shortages and minimizing waste.
- Support senior chefs during service in busy periods.
Skills
- Diploma or certificate in culinary arts preferred.
- Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is an advantage.
- Basic cooking knowledge with willingness to learn.
- Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
