The Role

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Security Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing security engineering team in Cork, Ireland. In this role, you will drive security initiatives across cloud security, application security, network security, and AI security. You will work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure robust security practices across Proofpoint's technology landscape.

Responsibilities

Build and Lead a High-Performing Team
- Hire, mentor, and develop top security engineering talent.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Define team goals, priorities, and performance metrics.
Cloud Security Engineering
- Design and implement security solutions for cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Enhance cloud security posture, including identity management, encryption, and access controls.
- Work with DevOps teams to embed security in CI/CD pipelines.
Application Security
- Establish secure software development practices and work with engineering teams to implement them.
- Lead initiatives such as threat modeling, secure code reviews, and vulnerability management.
- Advocate for security best practices in AI-driven applications.
Network Security
- Oversee security architecture for network infrastructure, ensuring resilience against cyber threats.
- Implement zero-trust security principles and network segmentation strategies.
AI Security
- Develop security strategies to protect AI/ML models and ensure data integrity.
- Address adversarial AI risks and emerging threats in AI-driven environments.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders.
- Drive security awareness and training programs across teams.
- Stay ahead of evolving threats and security trends, ensuring Proofpoint remains at the forefront of cybersecurity.

What You Bring to the Team

Extensive experience in security engineering, to include experience in a leadership role.
Expertise in cloud security (AWS, GCP, Azure) and DevSecOps practices.
Deep knowledge of application security, network security, and secure software development.
Experience in securing AI/ML applications is a strong advantage.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing security teams.
Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC (GCIH, GCFA, GCED), or equivalent are highly desirable.
Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, etc.).
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
