Our client is hiring Head of Technology who will serve as the tech leader, owning the entire tech stack and leading the architecture, development, and implementation of the business roadmap. You will work closely with the leadership to transform the marketplace vision into a scalable, secure, and AI-enabled platform.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership
- Define and lead the end-to-end technical strategy aligned with the company’s business goals.
- Own the architecture, scalability, and reliability of the marketplace platform.
- Make build vs buy decisions, drive system design, infrastructure planning, and technology selection.
Startup & Scale-up Mindset
- Thrive in an environment of ambiguity; be comfortable working with limited resources and high ownership.
- Drive continuous iteration of MVP into a scalable, secure, and high-performance platform.
- Optimize systems to support user acquisition, onboarding, and high traffic volume growth.
AI & Automation
- Leverage AI and machine learning, such as AI time series forecasting, to enhance user experience, personalization, fraud detection, and other marketplace functionalities.
- Lead internal process automation across Marketing, HR, Finance, Customer Service, etc., integrating appropriate SaaS tools or building in-house solutions where needed.
Product & Engineering Execution
- Oversee all aspects of engineering from software development, DevOps, infrastructure, QA, and deployment.
- Translate product vision into technical execution — work with product managers, designers, and founders.
- Build and mentor a high-performing tech team; establish engineering best practices and agile methodologies.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with non-technical teams to understand their workflows and automate/optimize processes.
- Collaborate with the leadership team on fundraising (pitch decks, tech due diligence) and hiring strategy.
Must-Haves
- Proven experience as a Director, Head of Technology, CTO, or senior engineering leader in marketplace/ecommerce set ups, preferably a startup.
- Demonstrated success in scaling the business from 0 to 1 and then 1 to 100.
- Strong background in software engineering and data architecture.
- Experience with AI and ML frameworks, especially for personalization, recommendation engines, chatbots, or internal automation.
- 10+ years of experience with deep understanding of startup environments — high ownership, lean teams, speed over perfection.
- Strong knowledge of automation across functions (CRM, ERP, ATS, etc.), including building or integrating tools with marketing, HR, and finance platforms.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance in multi-sided platforms.
- Fluency in Arabic is a must.
