This role requires a strong background in Electronics and mechanical acoustics design. Proven, in-depth experience with the complex acoustical requirements of opera houses and other major performance venues. The Senior Specialist will ensure the highest standards of acoustic performance, noise control, and sound quality across all assigned projects, from conceptual design through to commissioning.Long Description Section 2 of 5Section Title: Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities•Acoustic Design & Analysis:•Conduct detailed acoustical analyses, modeling, and simulations for architectural, environmental, and mechanical noise control.•Develop comprehensive acoustical design strategies for diverse building types, with a specialized focus on performance spaces (opera houses, concert halls, theatres) and their unique reverberation, isolation, and sound diffusion needs.•Specify appropriate acoustical materials, construction methods, and noise/vibration control treatments.•Electronics & Mechanical Design Integration & Noise Control:•Provide expert acoustical input and design solutions for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC noise attenuation, ductwork acoustics, fan noise, and plumbing noise control.•Design and specify vibration isolation systems for mechanical equipment (e.g., chillers, pumps, air handling units) to prevent structure-borne noise.•Collaborate closely with MEP engineers to ensure integrated and effective noise and vibration solutions from the design phase.•Project Management & Coordination:•Lead and manage the acoustics scope of work for multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.•Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, MEP teams, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding acoustical matters.•Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications for acoustical compliance and potential issues.•Site Supervision & Testing:•Conduct site visits, perform acoustic measurements (sound insulation, reverberation time, noise levels), and commission acoustical systems.•Oversee the implementation of acoustical designs during construction, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.•Troubleshoot and resolve on-site acoustical issues, providing practical and effective solutions.•Reporting & Documentation:•Prepare detailed acoustical reports, technical specifications, and design documentation.•Present findings, recommendations, and design solutions to clients and project teams in a clear and concise manner.•Research & Development:•Stay abreast of the latest advancements, technologies, and best practices in architectural acoustics, mechanical noise control, and performance venue design.•Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal acoustical methodologies and tools.•Mentorship & Quality Assurance:•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior acousticians and project team members.•Perform peer reviews of acoustical designs and analyses.
